| The world's most popular silver coin celebrates its silver anniversary. In 1986, the United States mint released the first Silver American Eagles, and the world of coin collecting changed forever. Since then it has become the most popular silver coin series in the entire world. Now the Silver Eagle is celebrating its 25th year in production – a milestone that PCGS is honoring with its limited edition, 25th Anniversary Silver Eagles. The design for the obverse of this iconic coin is based on Adolph A. Weinman’s stunning image of a flag draped “Walking Liberty” originally featured on the 1916 half dollar. The revival of this beloved US coin design has helped the Silver Eagle become one of the most sought-after silver coins in the world. The coin’s reverse was designed by the US Mint’s Chief Engraver John Mercanti and features a heraldic eagle behind a shield. Based on the design of the Great Seal of the United States, Mercanti’s eagle grasps an olive branch in one talon and a bundle of arrows in the other. In the eagle’s beak is a banner with the inscription “E Pluribus Unum,” and above it are thirteen stars representing the original thirteen states. First Strike coins are those that have been struck with brand new dies at the beginning of a new minting cycle. As a result, they have extremely well defined images and are highly prized by discerning collectors everywhere. This is one coin that you’ll definitely want to have in your collection. These perfect MS70 2011 Silver American Eagles are sure to vanish fast because of their collectability. Click Here To See Our Entire Selection | ||
